How do we know a false prophet?

‘When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.’ (Deu 18:22)

Obviously all those who have hitherto predicted the end of the world have been wrong, and are therefore, by the biblical definition, false prophets. It’s an impressive list. Notice how much more frequent they have become recently. The date given is that of the predicted End.
